Away in the County is situated on the tranquil shores of East Lake in the village of Cherry Valley. Recently featured on HGTV, this unique Prince Edward County retreat has been creatively renovated by its owners, Susan and Glen Wallis to accommodate guests who want to get “away” from it all.
With a décor of elegant simplicity, the spacious guest rooms have well-appointed private baths and stunning views of East Lake and the gardens. Guests are encouraged to linger on the expansive marble terrace or wander through the gardens to the patio by the lake where they may catch sight of a swan gliding by or take time to read a book or from the library's extensive collection.
Wineries, farm markets, shops, and art galleries are nearby attractions. Away is a mere 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park, 12 minutes to the shopping village of Bloomfield and less than 10 minutes to restaurants, shops and the heritage Regent Theatre in the town of Picton.

There is free Wifi for those who need to stay connected and Television with Apple TV in the living room. Away is the perfect destination for those who want to spend time in a gentle environment, exploring the countryside at their leisure.
Away will also allow families with children provided the house is left in good shape upon departure (There will be checkout instructions for guests to follow). Although Away is a beautiful setting, the owners do not allow for weddings or other large events such as family re-unions to take place. Thank you for your understanding.

SPECIAL NOTES
POOL
**Prior to booking, guests should be aware that during pool season (late June through Labour day weather dependent) the pool is treated (Wednesday through Sunday tbc) and the pool may not be accessed for 4-8 hours. If it is raining, then the pool will be treated on the next non-raining day.**
PETS
Well behaved dogs are welcomed at Away in the County for a fee of $250 plus taxes for up to 2 dogs per stay. Please ASK and let us know the breed. We ask that you follow the Dog Rules at the house, keep dogs off beds and furniture and pick up after your dog thoroughly.
WATERFRONT
​​​​​​​Enjoy gradual entry into the water. No drop off. It is shallow for a minimum 20 feet, then it gets slowly deeper. Water levels vary year to year. There are reed mats in place as you enter the water. Water shoes recommended. The hosts will stop by to tend to the vegetable garden occasionally. Lawn mowing may be scheduled during your stay.

Rental Balance is charged automatically 30 days prior to arrival (unless you reserved on another booking site as balance date may vary)
Damage Deposit is $1500: preauthorized, not charged

In high season (Canada Day to Labour Day) different check-in/out times are strictly non-negotiable. Early Access to drop off belongings or to get the beach pass cannot be granted, no exceptions. A fee of $200 will apply for those who arrive early or depart late. In other seasons, reach out to your Host NO SOONER THAN 2 BUSINESS DAYS in advance of your stay to see if early in/late out might be possible. Guests may use the park pass only for the duration of their stay, not prior to check-in or after check-out.
